The Armour of God-Ephesians 6 – 10-20.

In my walk with the lord over the last few years I have been ignorant of the enemies schemes in my life as this passage points to in verse 12, and I have talked to fellow Brothers and Sisters in Christ who have felt the same as I.   Since reading this passage consistently and applying in my life, it has completely changed my walk with God.   I must point out here that some of the challenges in life are not all attributed to the enemy, but sometimes it is a matter of taking personal responsibility.

So what is this passage referring to?

Paul the author of the book of Ephesians uses the analogy of a Roman soldier to get his point over.

Verse 14: The Belt of Truth. Our adversary Satan (the enemy) is the father of lies and will always try to distort the truth, where as believers in Christ we know the truth and our witness should be truth.

Verse 14: The Breastplate of Righteousness. This is referring to guarding of the heart from the accusations and charges from the enemy, (Proverbs 4:23) where as Christians we live in the Righteousness of Christ by faith.

Verse 15: Gospel of Peace. Preparing the feet for spiritual conflict, because the enemy places obstacles in the path of God`s chosen, but as Christians we should not be afraid of advancing into the enemies territory.

erse 16: The Shield of Faith. Our Faith is in Christ, the enemy can sow doubt about God`s faithfulness and what his word says.

Verse 17: The Helmet of Salvation. Protection of the head and a healthy way of thinking is the way of the Lord, where the enemy can lead us into false doctrine and an unhealthy way of thinking, as Christians we can discern between truth and deception.

Verse 17: The Sword of the Spirit. Which is the word of God, which is an offensive weapon, the others being defensive weapons.    Jesus used this weapon to great effectiveness when being tempted by the enemy in the desert after his 40 days of fasting. (Mat 4:1-11).    If the enemy is having a go at you about your past, remind him of his future!

Verse 18: Pray in the Spirit. Praying in the spirit which is the mind of Christ, drawing strength from God, because without prayer and reliance on God our efforts at spiritual warfare are empty.

Finally let us remember – God`s spirit who is in you, is greater than the enemy, who is in the world.
